Advantra is seeking a Sr. Vertex Tax Expert to lead end-to-end configuration, implementation, and optimization of Vertex tax solutions within a global enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have deep functional and technical experience in Vertex, tax calculation automation, and ERP integration, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and scalability across international operations.
About the role
You will serve as the subject matter expert for Vertex Indirect Tax solutions, responsible for overseeing tax configuration, data validation, and automation. The role demands collaboration across Finance, Tax, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration and performance across ERP and billing systems.
Responsibilities
Lead Vertex tax configuration, testing, and deployment across global systems.
Provide subject matter expertise on indirect tax determination, calculation, and reporting.
Integrate Vertex with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday, or equivalent).
Support tax process automation and system optimization initiatives.
Partner with Finance, Accounting, and IT teams to troubleshoot tax-related system issues.
Maintain accurate tax rate and rule configuration in alignment with changing regulations.
Develop documentation, SOPs, and technical specifications for Vertex implementations.
Provide guidance for tax data validation, reconciliation, and audit preparation.
Support performance tuning and data quality improvement across tax modules.
Collaborate with external vendors and internal teams during upgrades or enhancements.
Core requirements
7+ years of experience working with Vertex Indirect Tax solutions.
Proven track record implementing and maintaining Vertex in large enterprise environments.
Strong understanding of tax data models, integration points, and APIs.
Hands-on experience with ERP integration (SAP, Oracle, or Workday preferred).
Deep knowledge of indirect tax, VAT, and global tax compliance frameworks.
Ability to analyze and resolve complex tax system issues.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Experience documenting business processes and system configurations.
Nice to have
Experience with Vertex Cloud or hybrid cloud environments.
Exposure to sales & use tax automation or global VAT configuration.
Experience with SAP S/4HANA tax integration .
Prior experience supporting system upgrades or multi-country rollouts.
