Job Title: Senior Data Analyst

Location: Richmond, VA or McLean, VA (Hybrid Onsite 2-3 days/week)

Sr. Data Analyst Lead meetings with internal customers to determine data needs Requirements mapping and documentation to support engineering partners Metadata registration and data governance activities Configuring data quality rules and testing Coordinate ETL pipelines testing across multiple areas and validate results Strong communication skills - legacy Capital One business data engineers DFS team - what data is required to accomplish tasks Python SQL core analyst responsibilities building dashboards and reporting

Key Responsibilities:

• Stakeholder Engagement:
  Lead meetings with internal customers to understand and document data needs, requirements, and use cases.
• Requirements & Documentation:
  Translate business requirements into detailed data specifications and mapping documents for engineering partners.
• Data Governance & Quality:
  • Support metadata registration and data governance activities.
  • Configure, document, and test data quality rules.
  • Coordinate and validate testing across multiple data sources and ETL pipelines.
• ETL Pipeline Validation:
  Partner with engineering and business teams to ensure data pipelines are functioning accurately and delivering high-quality results.
• Dashboarding & Reporting:
  Build and maintain dashboards and reports to support business objectives using appropriate visualization tools.
• Communication & Collaboration:
  Communicate findings, requirements, and technical issues effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including legacy business data engineers from Capital One.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Technical Proficiency:
  • Strong in SQL for querying and data validation.
  • Experience with Python for data analysis and process automation.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and data pipeline testing methodologies.
• Business Acumen:
  • Experience working with business data related to financial services (DFS experience a plus).
  • Ability to translate business requirements into actionable data tasks.
• Communication:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience leading discussions and coordinating across cross-functional teams.
• Governance & Metadata:
  • Knowledge of data governance tools and best practices.
  • Experience in metadata management and data cataloging.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience at Capital One, especially within the DFS domain.
• Experience with data quality tools or data catalog solutions (e.g., Collibra, Alation).
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in hybrid environments.
