Job Description We are seeking an experienced Distribution Engineer with over three years of experience to support ongoing projects. The ideal candidate will independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for electric utility customers. The role requires frequent communication with clients, both in person and through email, Teams, and phone.
Responsibilities - Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems.
- Review work provided by clients and assess the requirements of scopes.
- Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure compliance with engineering and construction standards.
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and propose mitigation using engineering principles.
- Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements.
- Develop large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in urban environments.
- Manage work permit development, easements, and right-of-way applications.
Essential Skills - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 1+ years of experience in Distribution Design, Engineering, or Planning.
- Experience with design tools such as BOUD, O-Calc, or similar.
- Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or MicroStation with grading and pipe network function experience.
- Familiarity with CYME and ETAP.
- MUST be willing to submit to a drug test and background check
Additional Skills & Qualifications - Experience working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company.
- Proficiency with design tools such as Poleforman and Autocad.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kalamazoo, Traverse City, Cadillac and Jackson, Michigan.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $29.81 - $42.00/hr.
