Job Description

Position Summary:
The Children’s Ministry Director serves as the face and leader of FCC’s Kids Ministry, overseeing the spiritual formation, safety, and engagement of children from Nursery through 5th grade. This individual provides leadership and vision for all aspects of children’s programming, directly supervises the K-1 and Nursery Coordinator roles, and ensures alignment with the church's mission to help kids learn the importance of loving God and loving people.

• Serve as the visible leader and primary point of contact for Children’s Ministry.
• Supervise and work closely with the K-1 Coordinator and Nursery Coordinator, fostering a collaborative team culture.
• Oversee and develop all programming and environments for children in 2nd–5th grade on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.
• Select, edit, and implement age-appropriate, Gospel-centered curriculum for all of Children’s Ministry.
• Ensure all classrooms (Nursery–5th grade) are consistently organized, clean, welcoming, and fully stocked.

Weekly Programming:

• Plan, staff, and lead RISE weekly from August-May, and plan summer outings every other week from June-July for our 3rd–5th grade Wednesday night ministry (6:30–8:00pm). These services should provide discipleship, fun, and community-building each week.
• Support and ensure excellent programming for Sunday mornings year-round.

Event Planning & Execution:

• Plan and execute all quarterly Kids Ministry events, including themed family nights, outreach events, and service projects.
• Coordinate and lead seasonal parent events.
• Direct children’s Christmas and Easter engagement.
• Lead all Vacation Bible School (VBS) planning and execution.
• Organize Summer and Winter Camps for 3rd–5th grade.
• Oversee and direct children’s service opportunities (such as Operation Christmas Child).

Volunteer Development:

• Recruit, train, and support a dynamic team of adult and student volunteers.
• Provide ongoing care, encouragement, and communication to volunteers.
• Schedule and ensure volunteer coverage for all services, programs, and events.
• Maintain all mandated background checks and livescanning processes for all volunteers over the age of 18.

Parent & Family Engagement:

• Communicate regularly with parents regarding upcoming events, programming, and ways to support their children’s faith at home. This should be done digitally and in person.
• Build relationships with families to help nurture spiritual development beyond church walls.
