Baker & Hot Kitchen Cook – Aunty’s Kitchen (Waterloo, ON)

About Aunty’s Kitchen:
- We’re a 100 % Halal Pakistani / South Asian–inspired restaurant & catering company, with bold flavor, high standards, and creative twists (e.g. fusion desserts, “modern twist” items).
- Alongside our walk-in/take-out menu (biryanis, kababs, curries, wraps, etc.), we run full-service catering for private events, parties, and weekend bookings. We’re expanding our dessert offerings to match the quality and creativity of our savory menu.
Role Overview:
We’re seeking a Baker with hot kitchen experience to split time between baking/desserts and supporting our main kitchen. You’ll be part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced, flavor-forward environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce a range of desserts: cakes, tarts, pastries, plated desserts, fusion sweets (e.g. South-Asian spice cakes)
- Assist in hot kitchen tasks: prep, cooking sauces/gravies, sides, basic savory dishes
- Help maintain recipe consistency, quality, and presentation
- Innovate or refine dessert menu items that align with our brand (creative & bold flavors)
- Monitor ingredient stock & assist in inventory of baking supplies
- Uphold high standards of cleanliness, food safety (especially halal compliance)
- Occasionally assist in catering dessert setup and on-site service
Skills & Qualifications:
- 1–3+ years professional baking experience
- Prior experience working in a hot kitchen (restaurants / catering)
- Comfortable working with spices, bold flavors, delicate textures
- Strong time management & organization skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of halal food handling & kitchen protocols
- Familiarity with high-volume production (catering events, weekend surge)
Hours & Schedule:
- Full-time (with flexibility for morning, evenings and weekends)
- Catering events are often booked on weekends, so availability then is a plus
- Early shifts preferred for baking production
